I have extensive experience working with children whose sensory needs cause challenging behaviors. Prior to becoming an OT I worked as a 1:1 aide for a child in a self-contained classroom with ASD. Throughout the year, I implemented a sensory diet for the child providing the input and breaks required to be successful throughout the school day while minimizing behaviors. In the following years, I have worked with children in self-contained classrooms providing not only to them, but also to other team members, strategies to help reduce their challenging behaviors. I have experience working with children with sensory processing difficulties, learning disabilities, Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome, developmental delays, ADD/ADHD, emotional regulation, and executive functioning. I love incorporating the child’s interests into treatment sessions and aim to find creative, fun ways to work on skills that they are having difficulty with.
